Student Life

The opportunities for Bradley School students to become involved in enrichment acitivites and to participate in actual decision-making processes that impact students are bountiful, particularly in the upper grades of 3, 4 and 5. These activities may take place before, during or after school, depending on the students' schedules and desires. Participation for most of these programs is based on students' academic achievement and good behavior.

The following are programs available to Bradley School students who show their P.A.W.S. characteristics of Perseverence, Acting Responsibly, Working and Playing Safely, and Showing Respect.

Art Enrichment -- Extra art classes are available to students who show a talent in art. These students often create posters and paint windows for special events at Bradley School and participate in other art activities.

Bluefish Reading Incentive -- Participation in this reading incentive program rewards students with a free ticket to a Bridgeport Bluefish baseball game in the Spring.

Chorus -- Exta music classes offer students time to learn new musical arrangements, which are presented during two concerts, one in the winter and one in the spring.

Family Fun Nights -- Fourth and fifth graders volunteer to help out with these well-attended Math and Reading activities nights after school. They may work at the rewards table or supervise activities for younger students.

Health and Wellness Committee -- Members of this committee, who may be third, fourth, or fifth graders, participate in discussions with staff and parents regarding nutrition and physical activity. Meetings occur during school hours.

Instrumental -- These classes with the music teacher provide students an opportunity to play an instrument of their choice in the Bradley School Band. Band members participate in school assemblies and city parades.

Lunch Bunch -- Special lunches with support staff provide students the opportunity to spend time with peers to learn the social skills so necessary for student success.

Safety Patrol -- Fifth graders are chosen for these important positions based on good citizenship and maturity. These students help teachers maintain safe passage in the hallways during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Members meet during school under the supervision of teachers.

Student Council -- This group is open to fourth and fifth grades. Students are chosen by teachers at those grade levels, based on good citizenship and academics. Activities include promoting school activities, fundraising for worthy causes and other humanitarian efforts. Members meet after school under the supervision of teachers.
